New Mars Volta

One of my favorite bands put out a new record on Friday. It's a mix between the dark groovy pop of their last release and the abstract experimental stuff they were putting out in the 2000s. It leaked a few months ago so I've been looking forward to it and found myself biking all over town on Friday to find a copy. This is The Mars Volta at their old school finest IMO. Lots of jazz and latin influence as usual.
Me and my friend have also been trying to decipher the album art which is a star map, topographical map, and more laid on top of one another. We've identified some constellations but can't find anywhere with matching topography. We're waiting for the community to find a breakthrough at the moment.
Oh yeah, and I got my tickets to go see them when they're in Boise this November. Convinced a friend from school to go with me. Exciting!
